Structure your time for better health
A little while ago I did some polls on my Instagram stories in order to find out how people are getting on. It turns out the vast majority of you currently do not have any distinction between different days, or the weekdays and weekends. Each to their own, of course, but I could not help but wonder whether that was by choice. When I asked whether you missed structure in your lives, an overwhelming majority said yes. On the back of that, I decided that I would like to share my own tips and strategies for maintaining an artificial structure and keeping me sane. Here are my main propositions, for…

Wholewheat pizza recipe
Here follows the recipe I used to make these wholewheat pizzas! I looked up several different recipes and ended up just mixing things a little randomly, and wanted fast results so didn’t let the dough rise for very long but it turned out pretty great! Dough ingredients 1 packet of fresh yeast (42g) 2dl lukewarm water (mix cold & boiling, make sure temperature is adjusted to suit whatever yeast type you’re using) 3-4g salt (a bit more than half a teaspoon) 1 tsp sweetener e.g. sugar, agave, maple syrup 3 tbsp vegetable oil 2 dl white flour + 3 dl wholewheat flour plus extra Dough method Crumble the fresh yeast…

How (not) to Exercise During a Lockdown ~ article
How do you exercise? Is your main focus how much you are “burning”? Do you feel as though food is something you must “earn”? For a long time, thoughts of a punitive nature would pop into my head during workouts, and I unfortunately know that I am not alone. I also know that is a sad way to live life.

Guest Post ~ Sustainer Container
This is a slightly different post, as it is a guest post from Maya, a final year university student who has founded Sustainer Container as part of her work. She asked if I would be happy to promote her brand, which I am 🙂 The website is launching on 9 April at sustainercontainer.co.uk! Here is what she has to say: Sustainability has become a buzzword and aspiring to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle has become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly among young people. But what does living sustainably mean? Well according to Google, the definition of sustainable is “conserving an ecological balance by avoiding depletion of natural resources”. For…

Mermaids
I think about being a little girl Swimming I did always love the sea Getting lost in the blue, the blurred line between sky and water Swimming fast One stroke Two strokes, faster If I swim slower my hair drifts away from me, billows like seaweed as it catches up with my new rhythm I pretend being a mermaid Swim with my legs touching No gaps here No thigh gaps If I look at my body when standing in clear water It’s of an odd shape And its true contours do not matter Because water distorts everything And I take pleasure in it I take comfort in it I wish…

~ How to punch diet culture in the face this festive season ~
Ngl I think that is a most catchy title. If it got your attention: hey! I hope you get something out of this post. Keep on reading for my best tips at the moment. There is no denying that most people accept values pushed onto us by diet culture as their own. Internalising such ideas is obviously not helpful for anyone vulnerable to developing or already struggling with disordered eating behaviours. Though diet culture is a year-round thing (lucky us!) I know festive season and the flurry of New Year’s resolutions which quickly follow after it, is an extra difficult time. Here follow some tips first of all for everyone…

Lucky Pig ~ New Vegan Brunch Menu
I was one of the lucky piglets invited along to a preview of Lucky Pig’s new vegan brunch menu at Paradise Palms this weekend. Although the meal was gifted to me (and my +1, a friend who was visiting me from out of town), my (and her) opinion is completely my own. I am a big fan of Lucky Pig food in general though, but I promise this is a fully honest review. Now that that disclaimer is out of the way – let’s get started! First, we were served beautiful drinks. They have alcohol and non-alcoholic options. Having had their Bloody Mary before, I opted for it again because…

Gin Lalli ~ Empty Your Stress Bucket
Hello internet reader! This evening, I was lucky enough to be able to attend a talk put on for Mental Health and Wellbeing Week, featuring psychotherapist Gin Lalli. She was an excellent speaker with a background in science. For my own benefit, and for yours, here follows a breakdown of the main points made by Gin – permission has been granted to repost, with credit 🙂 Two parts of our brain, or two ways of thinking are the Intelligent Brain and the Primitive Brain. The intelligent brain… is our evolved brain, which lets us perform tasks such as thinking, speaking, driving… skilled tasks, as well as things that make us…

Good Girl Burn Out
Hello internet. Long time no write. I have been feeling v e r y drained recently. And I have been struggling lots with coming to terms with this. For most of my life, I have been a high achiever, constantly pushing myself to do more more MORE. I am a fairly experienced and successful multi-tasker, who would never even consider giving up on a project I’ve already started. Like, never. I’m on my 11th week back at university or so, this semester, and I am empty. I have had a trying few months, and it’s safe to say I feel emotionally and physically depleted in many ways. I don’t know…
